East Norriton, PA (September 25, 2021) — Suburban Community Hospital is holding a winter donation drive to collect needed items for some of our most vulnerable citizens – homeless Veterans.
The event will be held on October 4, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. between Suburban Community Hospital and Suburban Woods Health & Rehabilitation Center parking lot. Members of the community are encouraged to attend the event. The event will feature music from the Norristown Marching Band, and featured guests are the Montgomery County Emergency & Medical Squads, the Montgomery County Mental Health & Human Services, and local veterans.
“East Norriton Township is proud to partner with Suburban Community Hospital in an effort to support the Veterans Winter Donation Drive, “said East Norriton Township.
The Hospital is asking the public to make donations of nonperishable food items and clothing for Veterans who are homeless or who are in need during the winter months.
“Suburban Community Hospital is proud to collect items for our military service personnel and veterans,” said Michael Motte, chief executive office of Suburban Community Hospital. “These donations can make a difference for our Veterans for the up and coming month.”
Motte added, “This is one small way that we can show our veterans and military members that we appreciate everything that they have done for our country.”
Suburban Community Hospital partnered with local community members to make the Oct 4 event possible. The partnerships include, Sharon Cohen, community advocate for Montgomery County, Dennis Miller, administrator for veterans affairs for Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Suburban Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center, Fox Chase Cancer Center, East Norriton Township, Rick DellAngelo, Marine Corp League Valley Forge, William Keys, vice president of the Vietnam Veterans Valley Forge Chapter 349, Ralph Nealman, president of The Vietnam Veterans Valley Forge Chapter 349, the Norristown Marching Band from the Norristown High School, and Meadow Rehab and Nursing Center.
“To show gratitude and appreciation for our veterans’ sacrifices, Suburban Community Hospital is hosting a donation drive to collect cold weather items and nonperishable food. Any donations to assist our veterans would be greatly appreciated”, said Michelle Aliprantis, regional director of marketing and comminutions for Prime Healthcare Pennsylvania Region. “Suburban Community Hospital is thankful for the donations already received for our nation’s heroes during this unprecedented time.”
Donations will be accepted through October 4-October 8. The following items will be accepted at the locations below.
Cabinet Goods” which are non-perishable items such as rice, pasta, stuffing, etc., “Canned Goods” especially those containing meat or fruit, “Non-perishable” novelty items such as Pop-Tarts, and New T-shirts and underwear for sizes XL through XXXL.
Donations will be dispersed to homeless Veterans though the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
Collection boxes will be in the following main lobbies: Suburban Community Hospital ( 2701 Dekalb Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401, Suburban Woods Health Rehabilitation Center (2751 Dekalb Pike, Norristown, PA 19401, Meadowview Rehab and Nursing Center (9209 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444, East Norriton Township Building ( 2501 Stanbridge Street, East Norriton, PA 19401, and Fox Chase Cancer Center ( 2701 Dekalb Pike, Norristown, PA 19401).
