Suburban Community Hospital Welcomes Dr. Johanna Owings to Suburban Medical Group
East Norriton, PA (December 6, 2024) –Suburban Community Hospital is thrilled to welcome Dr. Johanna Owings, DO, to its esteemed medical team. A board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Owings brings over thirteen years of clinical experience and is proficient in both English and Spanish, enriching her ability to deliver comprehensive care to a wide range of patients.
Dr. Owings has built a robust career in family medicine, working in multiple roles at federally qualified health centers throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. Her passion for primary care has enabled her to forge meaningful connections with patients across all age groups—from infants to the elderly—particularly in communities that face healthcare disparities.
Throughout her professional journey, Dr. Owings has showcased a deep commitment to culturally sensitive care, effectively managing both acute and chronic health conditions while guiding uninsured and underinsured individuals through the complexities of the healthcare system.
In her previous positions, Dr. Owings has been instrumental in community health efforts, including coordinated responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and advocacy for children with behavioral and developmental challenges. She has also played a vital role in shaping the next generation of healthcare providers as a clinical preceptor for medical students and residents.
Dr. Owings earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she also completed a Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Sciences. Her residency training in Family Medicine was conducted at Mercy Suburban Hospital.
Beyond her impressive career, Dr. Owings has shared her medical skills in various countries, including Uganda, India, Panama, and Guatemala, highlighting her dedication to global health and community engagement.
