Suburban Community Hospital Recognized for Supporting Organ Donation

Hospital team supported education, awareness through statewide challenge

East Norriton, PA (October 17, 2024) — Suburban Community Hospital proudly announces its achievement of a prestigious gold designation in recognition of its exceptional efforts to promote awareness of organ, eye, and tissue donation.

This honor is part of the 2024 Donate Life Pennsylvania Hospital Challenge, organized by The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP). The initiative aims to inspire hospitals across the state to elevate the conversation surrounding organ, eye, and tissue donation both within their institutions and in their surrounding communities. HAP partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and two organ procurement organizations, the Center for Organ Recovery & Education and the Gift of Life Donor Program, to support this important mission.

Michael Motte, CEO of Suburban Community Hospital, expressed his gratitude in receiving this acknowledgment. “Being recognized in HAP’s Donate Life Pennsylvania Hospital Challenge is a tremendous honor for us. This accolade signifies our continuous commitment to educating our communities about the crucial impact that organ donation can have on saving lives,” he stated.

The HAP challenge is launched annually in April to align with National Donate Life Month. Throughout this year’s initiative, Suburban Community Hospital actively engaged its employees, patients, and local residents through various activities, including informational pop-up sessions and a flag-raising ceremony. The hospital’s efforts were meticulously documented and assessed via a scorecard submitted to HAP, which categorizes performance into titanium, platinum, gold, silver, or bronze designations.

Nicole Stallings, President and CEO of HAP, commented, “We commend the hospitals across Pennsylvania and our collaborative partners for their remarkable dedication to promoting organ donation awareness. The enthusiastic participation in this challenge underscores the commitment hospital teams have to improving the health of their communities. Elevating the number of organ, eye, and tissue donors is essential for hospital teams striving to save and enhance lives.”

Suburban Community Hospital was one of 118 hospitals statewide that participated in this year’s challenge.
