Internal Medicine
Welcome from Mathew Mathew, MD
Program Director
Welcome to Suburban Community Hospital’s Internal Medicine Residency Program! Thank you for taking the time to visit our webpage to learn more about our outstanding Internal Medicine residency program. Training at our hospital will ensure a well-rounded clinical experience. Our facility cares for a very diverse patient population including the underserved, the affluent, and adult patients of all ages and from all backgrounds. Suburban is a small community hospital with a big heart. At this facility, our residents enjoy phenomenal ancillary support and hard-working nursing staff. Training here will prepare internists to work in the primary care and community hospital setting. Two out-of-house elective blocks allow trainees to expand their horizons by going to train at outside facilities. Many residents use this opportunity to experience medicine in the university hospital setting or gain exposure to a potential fellowship program. The pride of our program is the degree of autonomy our residents work with. As a PGY-2 resident, you will take charge in running our ICU with the support of our on-call intensivists. You will have opportunities to become extremely proficient in placing central venous catheters, arterial lines, and temporary dialysis catheters. The transition from PGY-3 resident to attending physician will be a smooth one for trainees from Suburban Community Hospital with the independence we foster.
We’re looking for bright, enthusiastic, and friendly applicants for our program. Your next three years in training will be an unforgettable experience that will prepare you for a rewarding career as a competent, capable, and caring family physician.
Our program is accredited by the ACGME with Osteopathic Recognition. You can learn more about the program details from the links below:
Good luck to you in your future careers!
