Employee Benefits
Benefits start the first day of the month following your employment start date. Residents are provided benefits that begin on July 1st and are given a full 30 days to review and choose benefits that are appropriate. Highlights of employee benefits include the following programs:
- Health benefits in either a PPO or HMO plan
- Dental benefits
- Holiday / Personal Time Off (PTO)
PGY1 Interns: 15 compensated working days per contract year, which include vacation, personal time off, continuing education and sick days
PGY2 and above level residents: 20 days per contract year
- Leave of Absence: Medical, Family (FMLA): Eligible residents may take a total of up to 12 weeks of FMLA per rolling 12-month period
- Other Ancillary benefits Malpractice insurance at no expense to residents
- A recently renovated resident lounge
- Meal allowance
- Free parking
ComPsych GuidanceResources program EAPComplete offers hospital employees someone to talk to and resources to consult whenever and wherever needed. ComPsych can help with confidential emotional support (i.e., anxiety, depression, stress, grief, loss and life adjustments, relationship/marital conflicts), work-life solutions (i.e., child, elder, and pet care, hiring movers or home repair contractors), legal guidance (i.e., divorce, adoption, family law, wills, trusts and more), financial resources (i.e., retirement, taxes, mortgages, budgeting), online resource support (i.e., articles, podcasts, videos, on-demand trainings), free online will preparation. Services are available to benefited employees at no cost.
Residents also are provided an educational allowance, provided through Concur Solutions expense management system. Residents who participate in scholarly activity can request additional funding for the cost of expenses for conferences, posters, or publications among other expenses.

Educational Benefits
On the educational side, residents benefit from exposure to a large, diverse patient population with a wide spectrum of disease states and clinical-social scenarios in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
SCH is equipped with modern educational facilities that include:
- State-of-the-art computer learning centers with T1 Internet access and application programs for clinical diagnosis, problem solving, and other artificial intelligence applications
- Medical library
- Conferences rooms/classrooms equipped for teleconferencing
SCH residents receive their initial Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) /Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to the start of training. Residents are enrolled in RQI (Resuscitation Quality Improvement) Program to continue to maintain their ACLS/BLS certification throughout their residency.
