About Suburban Community Hospital’s Residency Program
Suburban Community Hospital offers ACGME-accredited residency training programs in three specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Preliminary Medicine Year. All three programs have achieved the distinction of Osteopathic Recognition. Year after year, our Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency programs continue to train residents to be excellent attending physicians. Suburban Community Hospital’s Preliminary Medicine Year provides interns with an exceptional educational experience giving trainees the clinical tools they need to succeed in other residency programs. The hospital is affiliated with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) as well as several other osteopathic colleges.
Suburban Community Hospital has had active undergraduate and post-graduate training programs for more than 60 years. From our beginning in 1944 as Riverview Osteopathic Hospital to the present medical campus in East Norriton, Suburban Community Hospital has built its reputation upon a foundation of comprehensive high-quality services tailored to meet the medical needs of our patients. Suburban Community Hospital’s trainees work closely with the hospital’s teaching faculty.
Trainees will be exposed to a vast array of medical services in our state-of-the-art facility which includes the Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Suburban Community Hospital Family Medicine Residency Continuity Clinic, and the Wound Care Center. From the esoteric to the common medical conditions that are the clinical foundation of every trainee’s education, Suburban Community Hospital will provide you with an excellent experience.
Many of our graduates continue to practice either at Suburban Community Hospital or in the immediate area. Some have joined the staff and teaching faculty in various specialties, including:
* Hospital Medicine
* Nephrology
* Family Medicine
* Infectious Disease
