On behalf of the administration, faculty, residents, staff, and volunteers at Suburban Community Hospital (SCH), I welcome you to our web page. We invite you to explore the pages for more information on the programs offered at SCH. SCH offers attentive high-quality education for medical students, interns, and residents within a community hospital environment.
Suburban Community Hospital offers ACGME-accredited residency training programs in three specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Transitional Year. All three programs have achieved the distinction of Osteopathic Recognition. Year after year, our Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency programs continue to train residents to be excellent attending physicians. Suburban Community Hospital’s Transitional Year Internship provides interns with an exceptional educational experience giving trainees the clinical tools they need to succeed in other residency programs. Graduates from our Transitional Year Internship program have gone on to do residencies in specialties such as Anesthesia, Orthopedics, Radiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, and more. The hospital is affiliated with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) as well as several other osteopathic colleges.
Suburban Community Hospital has had active undergraduate and post-graduate training programs for more than 60 years. From our beginning in 1944 as Riverview Osteopathic Hospital to the present medical campus in East Norriton, Suburban Community Hospital has built its reputation upon a foundation of comprehensive high-quality services tailored to meet the medical needs of our patients. Suburban Community Hospital’s trainees work closely with the hospital’s teaching faculty.
Trainees will be exposed to a vast array of medical services in our state-of-the-art facility which includes the Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Suburban Community Hospital Family Medicine Residency Continuity Clinic, and the Wound Care Center. From the esoteric to the common medical conditions that are the clinical foundation of every trainee’s education, Suburban Community Hospital will provide you with an excellent experience.
Many of our graduates continue to practice either at Suburban Community Hospital or in the immediate area. Some have joined the staff and teaching faculty in various specialties, including:
* Hospital Medicine
* Nephrology
* Family Medicine
* Infectious Disease
* Internal Medicine
* Pulmonology and Critical Care
Our programs are accredited by the ACGME and have Osteopathic Recognition for all programs. Please take time to explore the program specific pages for more information on what we have to offer here at Suburban Community Hospital. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or require further information.
